Supportive Living

Seniors of all income levels may qualify for residency at Jerseyville Estates, including those on Medicaid.  Jerseyville Estates is an approved Illinois Supportive Living Facility that may accept payments from Medicaid to supplement the cost.  A Supportive Living Facility is an affordable assisted living model administered by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services. The program was developed as an alternative to nursing homes and promotes personal control and dignity.

How Supportive Living Works

A Medicaid-eligible resident must have income equal to or greater than the current SSI amount (currently $735 for a single person; $1103 for a couple) and must contribute all but $90 each month to the facility for room and board, meals and services. The $90 is to be kept by the resident as a personal allowance to use as the resident wishes. One of the many benefits of the Supportive Living program and the reason why many of our residents choose our facility over a traditional Independent or Assisted Living facility is that unlike typical assisted living programs, residents who qualify for the financial assistance program are able to stay at the supportive living community if and when their personal funds are depleted. If so, your apartment, services and amenities will not change.
